Parts of Speech কাকে বলে ?

What we speak is called speech. One speech may be short or long. A sentence is made of words put together to give out some meaning. So words are parts of speech. Each word in a speech has its own function to state a particular feeling.

আমরা যা বলি তাকে speech বা ভাষা বলি। একটি speech বা ভাষা ছোট বা দীর্ঘ হতে পারে। একটি বাক্য কিছু অর্থপূর্ণ শব্দ সমষ্টি দ্বারা গঠিত যা একটি সম্পূর্ণ মনের ভাব প্রকাশ করে। সুতরাং শব্দগুলো ভাষার অংশ। একটি ভাষার প্রতিটি শব্দের একটি নির্দিষ্ট কাজ রয়েছে একটি অনুভূতিকে প্রকাশ করার জন্য। 

Parts of speech are of eight kinds according to the works they do, such as-

Parts of speech মোট ৮ ভাগে ভাগ করা যায়, যথা -

i) Noun (বিশেষ্য)

ii) Pronoun (সর্বনাম)

iii) verb (ক্রিয়া)

iv) Adjective (বিশেষণ)

v) Adverb (ক্রিয়া বিশেষণ)

vi) Preposition (পদান্বয়ী অব্যয়)

vii) Conjunction or linker (সংযোজক অব্যয়)

viii) Interjection (অন্তৰ্ভাবমূলক অব্যয়)

1).  Noun: কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা বিষয়ের নামকে Noun (বিশেষ্য) বলে। 

A noun is a word which names any person or thing.

or

Noun is a naming word.It denotes name of anything or quality.

Examples- Ram, Shyam, man, book, water, Kolkata, kindness.

2) Pronoun: Noun এর পরিবর্তে যে word বসে তাহাকে pronoun (সর্বনাম) বলে। 

A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun.

***It is used to avoid repetition of the same noun in the sentences and to make the sentences sweeter to ear.

Examples- He, she, I, we, it, they, you, who, what, which

3) Adjective: যে word কোন noun বা pronoun-এর দোষ, গুণ, অবস্থা, সংখ্যা, পরিমান, আকৃতি প্রভৃতি প্রকাশ করে তার অর্থকে সীমাবদ্ধ করে তাকে adjective (বিশেষণ) বলে। 

An adjective is a word which adds something to the meaning of a sound.

or

Describing words is called Adjective.

An adjective is a modifying word.It modifies a noun or pronoun. It tells about a noun or pronoun.

Examples-

A poor girl.

An honest man.

Tall trees.

Fat man

4) Verb: যে word দ্বারা কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর কোন কাজ করা অথবা হওয়া, থাকা ইত্যাদি বুঝায় তাহাকে Verb (ক্রিয়া) বলে। 

A verb is a word which expresses the idea of action or tells something about a person or thing.

or

A verb is a doing word.It denotes some work done by a noun or pronoun.

Examples-

He walks

I go

He cries.

I have a bag.

The sun shines.

She sleeps.

5) Adverb: যে word কোন verb, adjective কিংবা অন্য কোন adverb এর সম্বন্ধে কিছু বলে অথবা ইহাদের অর্থ সীমাবদ্ধ করে (modify), তাকে adverb (ক্রিয়া বিশেষণ) বলে। 

An adverb is a word which adds something to the meaning of a verb, an adjective or another verb.

or

Adverb is a word that tells how work is done. It qualifies a verb. It is like an adjective of a verb.

Examples-

He walks fast.

You are very clever.

I shall come soon.

Do it now.

He cries loudly.

Please come here.

6) Preposition: যে word কোন noun,বা pronoun-এর পূর্বে বসিয়া sentence এর অন্য কোন word এর সহিত সেই noun বা pronoun এর সম্পর্ক বুঝাইয়া দেয় তাকে preposition (পদান্বয়ী অব্যয়) বলে। 

A preposition is a word placed before a Noun or a pronoun to show its relation to some other word in the sentence.

Pre = before  Position = Place where a noun stands.

Examples-

He came to me.

He lives in Delhi.

A chair is behind the table.

He lives at Kalibele in Purba Bardhaman district.

The boy fell into the pond.

7) Conjunction: যে word দুই বা তাহার অধিক শব্দ, শব্দসমষ্টি বা বাক্যকে কে যুক্ত করে তাহাকে conjunction (সংযোজক অব্যয়) বলে।

A conjunction is a word which joins words, phrases or sentences.

or

Conjunction is linking words. It joins the words or the sentences together.

Examples-

A book and a pen are on the table.

Bees give honey but they sting.

8) Interjection: যে word দ্বারা মনের আকস্মিক উচ্ছাস বা ভাব প্রকাশ পায় তাহাকে  Interjection (অন্তৰ্ভাবমূলক অব্যয়) বলে।

An Interjection is a word which expresses some sudden feeling or emotion.

Interjections show surprise, joy and sorrow.

Hurrah! We have won the match.

Alas! The glass is broken.
