Rabindranath Tagore

1. Rabindranath Tagore, a great Indian Poet, was born on 7th May 1861 at Calcutta, India.

2. His father’s name was Debendranath Tagore and his mother’s name was Sarada Devi.

3. He started writing poems at the age of eight.

4. He was not only a renowned (famous/great) poet but also a genius, writer, novelist, visual artist, composer, playwright and philosopher.

5. He wrote many books, such as Sonar Tari, Kalpana, Chitra, Naivedya ( poetry collections), Gora, Ghare Baire, Nauka Dubi, Binodini (novels) and Galpaguccha (story collection)

6. He wrote ‘Geetanjali’ and was awarded with Nobel Prize in 1913.

7. He also wrote our National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’.

8. He died on the 7th of August in 1941.
