Ans- The second ship sailed across the turbulent sea due to the strong wind that stirred the vessel wildly and hunted it like an imprisoned beast.

b. Give any two points of difference between the journey of the third ship and the other two ships.

Ans - i) While the first and the second ships came back from their journey happily or unhappily, the third ship sailed northward fighting obstacles in the sea.

ii) In contrast with the first and the second ship, the third one was rigged for a long journey.

Replace the underlined words with suitable phrasal verbs given in the list below. Change the form if necessary. There are two extra phrasal verbs :

Do as directed :

c. As soon as he reached home, it started raining heavily. (change into a negative sentence)

No sooner had he reached home than it started raining heavily.

d. Why cry over spilt milk ? (change into an assertive sentence)

Do not cry over a split milk.

e. Blood is thicker than water. (change into an interrogative sentence)

Is not the blood thicker than water ?

f. He told a lie intentionally. (rewrite using the noun from of ’intentionally,)

g. Run fast or you will be late. (change into a complex sentence)

Write a newspaper report within 100 words on the effect of a devastating flood in your district based on the following hints :

Devastating Flood Wreaks Havoc in Midnapore

Midnapore, July 15: Continuous heavy rainfall in the month of July has led to a devastating flood in Midnapore district. Rivers have overflowed their banks, inundating several villages and causing widespread destruction. Numerous trees were uprooted, and there has been significant loss of both human and animal life. Many families have been displaced and are in urgent need of assistance. The district administration, along with disaster response teams, has launched extensive rescue and relief operations. The state government has sanctioned emergency funds and arranged temporary shelters, food, and medical aid to support the affected population.

Exercise-6

Imagine that you and your friend are sailors of two ships that have recently returned from their voyages. Write a dialogue within 100 words on the different experiences of your voyages.

Ravi: Welcome back, Arjun! How was your voyage?
Arjun: It was thrilling! We sailed through a storm near the Bay of Bengal but managed safely.
Ravi: That sounds scary! My journey was calmer, but we got stuck near an island for a week.
Arjun: Really? Did you explore the island?
Ravi: Yes, it was beautiful—full of rare birds and plants.
Arjun: Lucky you! We mostly faced rough seas and strong winds.
Ravi: Well, every voyage has its own adventure. Ready for the next one?
Arjun: Always! Life at sea never gets boring.
