Sub: Pollution caused by plastic carry bags.

Sir, I shall be highly obliged if you kindly allow me to express my views about ‘the pollution caused by plastic carry bags’ in the ‘Letter to the Editor’ column of your esteemed daily.

Nowadays plastic carry bags have flooded the market. People unaware of the harmful effects break the government's rules and use plastic carry bags below the prescribed micron. Such plastic carry bags are non-biodegradable. They cause sewage problems by clogging the sewers and thereby polluting the environment. When they are burnt down, the smoke pollutes the air. They also pollute the land and spoil its fertility. However, a ban was imposed on the use of plastic carry bags. It is a welcome state. Expectedly it will restrict its random use. But law alone can not go far. Mass consciousness is a must.

Therefore, I request the authority to organise mass awareness programmes to alert people about the deadly effects of using plastic carry bags.
