Henry Louis Vivian Derozio
Henry Louis Vivian Derozio was born on 18th April 1809 at Entally, Kolkata. His father was Francis Derozio and his mother was Sophie Johnson. Derozio received his education at David Drummond’s Dhurmatallah Academy. After that, he joined the service as a teacher of English Literature and History in Hindu College. Though he lived for only 22 years still he achieved much. He became the assistant editor of ‘The India Gazette’, editor of ‘The Calcutta Gazette’, ‘The East Indian’ and ‘The Bengal Annual’. His notable works include- ‘To India’, ‘My native land’, ‘The Harp of India’, The Fakir of Jungheera’ etc,” He died on 26th December 1831.
